Although population growth is inevitable, no one should live without housing. In Africa, the lack of decent and adequate housing, as with health and education, is indisputably a major social concern. This is the explanation behind Orions laudable decision to reinvest a portion of its revenues in services to people, by promoting housing for the rapidly growing middle-class.
Therefore, the Orion Construction subsidiary has signed an agreement protocol with private Spanish firms to implement two factories for the construction of prefabricated houses on both banks of the Congo river.
These two factories will employ a workforce of 240 people and build an average of six houses per day, for an average of 180 houses per month. Each house, with floor space averaging 200 square meters, will have three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and three baths. The initial plan will provide for the construction of a thousand houses on each side of the Congo River, for a total of two thousand houses.
The initial investment is 2.4 millions euros, merely to build the two factories.
