Lucien Ebata, Founder of Orion Group SA
After graduating in Cuba and Canada in law from the University of Havana (insurance), the University of Ottawa (Master’s in insurance), University of Montreal (Business law), and a specialization at the Institut Français des Pétroles, Lucien Ebata founded Orion Oil in 2004.
The Group’s original business was trading in oil and transformed products between refineries and consumers.
In 2005, an agreement between Lucien Ebata and Glencore paved the way for Orion Oil to develop oil sales in West and Central Africa. From then on, Orion Group grew ever faster while setting up subsidiaries in Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Abidjan, London, Paris, New York and Johannesburg.
The Group’s main business is sale of crude oil and oil products worldwide, and supplying oil to several countries in West and Central Africa.
With over 1.2 million tons of products refined per year and 2014 revenues of over $1.5 billion, Orion Group SA now covers the oil chain end to end, from production to refining and sales including storage and shipping.
